Submit
The UNC PDP relies on submissions from its users to grow and keep current. If you know of a professional development resource of interest to UNC faculty, administrators, librarians, or staff, please enter it using the submission process. Anyone may submit a resource to the PDP but must first establish a login.
Navigating the Submission Process
The submission process consists of three steps, and you can track your progress in the submenu below the Submit tab. Your active step is highlighted. For example, Step 1 is active in the image below.![]()
Quick Submit
If you would prefer to skip the submission process, Quick Submit will allow you to enter a URL and leave the indexing to the PDP editors. You can find a link to Quick Submit from the Quick Submit box on the right of the submission screen (see image). On the Quick Submit screen, enter the Title, URL, and focus area you think the resource fits into best. Once you submit this information, a focus area editor will review the resource and add additional metadata to the resource to make it available in the PDP. This process may take up to 2-4 weeks, and you will receive an email when your resource is available in the PDP.
Step 1
Step 1 allows you to enter the URL of your resource to make sure it is not already listed in the PDP. If it is not duplicated, click the link to "continue to Step 2." You can also elect the link to "skip this step" and proceed to Step 2.Step 2
In Step 2, you will describe your resource using the fields below.Title, Enter the title of the resource.
URL, Enter the full URL of the resource you are entering. If your resource is a book or otherwise does not have a URL, you may leave this field blank.
Focus Area
Select a focus area for your resource using the descriptions below as a guide. If you feel your resource does not fit into a single focus area, you may select up to two focus areas.Administrative Development
Administrative Development covers topics associated with departmental chair and dean development such as budgeting, leadership skills, strategic planning, tenure and promotion, and more.Libraries
The Libraries focus area includes resources to support the work of college and university librarians. Topics cover acquisitions, cataloging and indexing, digital collections, instructional services, vendor relations, and more.Staff Development
Staff Development addresses human resource issues of interest to university HR departments as well as the faculty and staff they support. Topics include benefit programs, diversity, nonprofit management, funding opportunities, and more.Teaching and Learning
The Teaching and Learning focus area incorporates professional development resources for faculty teaching with or without technology. Sample topics include active learning, assessment, course management systems, large enrollment courses, and service learning.Click "Continue to Step 3" to save your information and proceed.
Step 3
The information you have entered in Step 2 appears at the top of your screen. To make any changes to this information, simply click "edit" next to the field, and you will return to Step 2. In Step 3 you will enter the additional information below:Subject(s)
A list of subject terms appears for the focus area you selected. If you selected two focus areas, two sets of subject lists will appear. Select subject(s) from this list that fit your resource. Use ctrl+click for multiple selections.Additional Keyword(s)
If you wish to additional terms to describe your resource that are not listed in the subject list, enter them here. Please use commas between your terms or phrases. This is an optional field.Description
Enter a brief description that will give PDP users an overview of your resource. Terms used in the description will be searched by the keyword search box in the PDP. You can check your spelling using the spell check icon above the description box.Click "Continue to Confirmation" to save your information and proceed.
Confirmation
All the information you provided will be listed here. Please review your entry and click the "edit" link to the left of each field to make final changes. When you are satisfied with the entry, click "Submit entry" at the bottom of the screen. You will receive confirmation via email that we have received your submission. Your submission will be reviewed by a focus area editor and available in the PDP after the review. This process may take up to 2-4 weeks. You will receive a final email when your resource is available via search and browse in the PDP.
