Getting Started

The topics below will help orient you to the UNC Professional Development Portal. Learn more about this resource.

Establish a Profile/Sign In
Although you can search and browse resources in the UNC PDP without signing in, many additional features of the PDP are available to signed in users. With a login you can find colleagues through our member directory, set content preferences, save searches, and more. The UNC PDP is designed for faculty, administrators, librarians, and staff within the University of North Carolina but is publicly available for anyone outside the university community. Any user may establish a login and profile.

To establish a profile, click any login link or select "Create Profile" under the MyPDP tab. If you select a login link, choose to "create a new account" on the login screen. You will be asked to enter your email address, which will become your UNC PDP username. If your email address is already registered with us, the name and telephone number we have associated with that email address will display. If this is your information, follow the instructions to login or retrieve a lost password. Note: If you established an account on other TLTC websites, such as the UNC TLT Conference site, you may have elected at that time to create a UNC PDP profile with the same account information.

If your email address is not in use, you will be asked to create a password, complete your contact information, and establish your PDP preferences. You will have the opportunity to change your profile information anytime you are logged in under the MyPDP tab. Read descriptions of the fields in your profile.

Navigation
The PDP is divided into four areas represented by tabs: My PDP, Search, Browse, and Submit. Clicking on a tab will take you to the first page in that section (even if you are active in that tab area). For example, the Search tab will take you to the search screen from your results, citation, etc. Submenus beneath each tab allow you to navigate within the section. See image.

In the upper right of the screen links appear that allow you to read more About the PDP, send us Feedback, access the Help, and Login or Logout.

If you wish to maximize screen space for PDP content, you may wish to "hide" the PDP logo at the top of the page. The minus icon in the upper right of yoru screen will roll up the logo for the rest of your session. If you wish to show the logo again, click the plus icon .
